- Description:
- Photographer Clyde Smith captured this snowy view of Lower Waterford in the winter of 1974. A cluster of buildings fills the foreground of the image. The rear of a small, wood-frame, gable-roof dwelling, with a brick chimney, stands at the front. The corner of a second dwelling and a garage, which are covered in wood shingles, are visible at the right edge of the photograph. A tall church steeple, crowned by a weather vane, rises up from beyond the first dwelling. A utility pole with wires running to the buildings, stands to the right of the church. Piles of dirty snow that appear to have been plowed are heaped around the foreground, in front of the garage. Snow covers the roofs of the buildings. Conifers and leafless deciduous trees are clustered around the buildings. Snow covered hills and mountains rise in the distance beyond the village. There is an elm tree in the near the church.

This photo is actually a "reverse" view of the rear of the 1795 House of the Rabbit Hill Inn. The photo negative was flipped so the images appear backwards from actually exists.
